For many years, an experienced team of paediatric surgeons, paediatric orthopaedists and plastic surgeons has been travelling to the Tanzanian province of Ifunda to treat children with congenital and acquired deformities of organs and extremities.
In 2015, ARCHEMED launched the first project against female genital mutilation. Since then, the project has been continuously carried out with at least two missions per year until the corona break and the death of the Eritrean project partner in 2023.
At the International Operation Centre for Children in Asmara (IOCCA), teams of ARCHEMED surgeons treat diseases in almost all paediatric surgical specialties. The treatment of children at IOCCA is free of charge.
