Our plan was to establish an interdisciplinary care unit to house various specialized departments. Following discussions with the Eritrean Ministry of Health, we were offered the use of “WARD F” for this purpose.

Burn patients in Eritrea are treated at the Halibet Hospital in Asmara. Since 2000, there has been a special care center here with a spacious operating theater and a ward for approximately 20 patients. ARCHEMED supports the burn clinic in Asmara.

The largest and most important neonatal and premature infant unit in Eritrea, located in the capital Asmara, treats up to 1,800 critically ill infants annually. Starting in December 2024, numerous ARCHEMED craftsmen will carry out the renovation of the interior spaces together with their Eritrean colleagues.

At the “International Operation Centre for Children in Asmara” (IOCCA), ARCHEMED surgical teams treat conditions in virtually all paediatric surgical specialties. Treatment for children at the IOCCA is free of charge.
